Shipboard Power Generation and Distribution System Design

Introduction:
This example illustrates the design of a complex shipboard power generation and distribution system in Saber. A complete high-level shipboard power generation and distribution system is simulated over a given mission cycle and typical load profile. In this design, the power distribution is a dual bus configuration split along the Port and Starboard sides of the ship. Synchronous generator performance is observed at various load conditions, and the effect of multi-stage filtering on power conditioning is studied.
This design example uses feature of experiment analyzer in SaberRD to automate various analyses and post processing measurements. The simulation results are used to understand the performance of various subsystems in the design. The effects of the power line filter on the harmonics are also studied using FFT analysis. And Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) on generator side is also calculated to study the impact of harmonics generated.

How to use this example:

Download the attached "ship_board_power_supply.zip" and unzip the contents. Open the ship_board_power_supply.ai_dsn in SaberRD and run the experiments listed in the Experiment Analyzer.
For more details of the design, analysis to be performed and signals to be viewed refer to the README.pdf file in the folder.

Note:
This design works only in SaberRD commercial edition 2015.03 and above.
